I didn't leave traditional medicine because I stopped believing in science. I left because I started believing in more.
I'm Drue — a registered nurse turned functional medicine practitioner, and the founder of Nume.
I graduated from nursing school in 2019, but even before I had my degree in hand, something didn't sit right. The system I was training to work inside felt incomplete — like it was designed to manage problems, not actually solve them.
I made it two years into nursing before I knew I couldn't keep doing it the traditional way. Not because I didn't respect the science — I do, deeply — but because I saw what was missing.
I went all in on preventative medicine and optimizing people's lives for health, peace, love, and abundance. And it started with my own body.
My Story
I knew something was wrong. I also knew no one was going to find it for me.
I was dealing with constant bloating — the kind where I looked six months pregnant by the end of every day. Anxiety I'd never experienced before in my life. Brain fog so thick I was too embarrassed to speak in conversations. And constipation where I'd only go once every five days.
I never went to the doctor for any of it.
Not because I didn't believe in medicine — I'd spent years studying it. But because I already knew what would happen. They'd recommend Miralax for the constipation, maybe an anxiety medication, and send me on my way. The deeper question — the why behind all of it — would never get asked.
So I asked it myself.
I dove into functional medicine. I ran the labs conventional doctors don't run. I found the root causes that were hiding underneath the symptoms everyone else would have medicated away. And slowly, methodically, I started to heal.
But here's what surprised me: the labs and protocols weren't the whole story.
The real transformation wasn't just physical.
When I came out the other side, I didn't just feel better — I felt like a completely different person. More grounded. More confident. More disciplined. More deeply connected to myself and my purpose.
And I realized something important: the values and practices I had built while I was still struggling — even when I wasn't "healthy" — were the foundation that supported the person I was becoming. Healing wasn't just about fixing what was broken. It was about stepping into an identity where health, clarity, and alignment were the default.
That's the piece most practitioners miss. They'll optimize your labs. They'll hand you a protocol. But they won't help you become the person who sustains that transformation — the person whose subconscious mind, daily habits, and deepest identity are all working in the same direction.
That's what I do differently.
Three things I bring that most practitioners can't
-

Traditional Medicine Foundation
I'm an RN with a BSN. I trained inside the system before I chose to go beyond it. That means I understand conventional medicine — its strengths, its blind spots, and when you need both worlds working together.
-

A Personal Connection to the Struggle
This isn't theoretical for me. I've lived the bloating, the brain fog, the anxiety, the feeling of not being heard. When I sit with you, I'm not guessing what it feels like. I know.
-

The Subconscious Work
Most functional medicine practitioners stop at protocols. I go deeper — into the subconscious patterns, identity beliefs, and internal blocks that quietly sabotage healing. Because your mind and body have to be moving in the same direction.
